"Aspects
of American Society: Culture and Politics" is a lecture series
designed to acquaint students with a variety of relevant topics
covering historical and contemporary aspects of life in the United
States. Individual lectures will focus, among other things, on the
political system, on the new media, on journalism, and on advertizing.
The speakers, all of them American academics, are highly qualified
specialists sponsored by the American Fulbright Commission.
Students
wishing to sign up for this class must be willing to devote significant
time and effort to preparatory reading. To obtain a "Schein"
(3 credits) for this class, participants will need to work on written
assignments which have to be submitted on a weekly basis. The required
reading material will be made available by the beginning of term.
